Today I would like to write about Roma in English… are you thinking why.
Because I have some dear friends, who speak English and, specially, because I would like to give a gift to Sameer. So come with me to this trip…
Rome, Italy has received me with a cold and sunny day.
My first stop Piazza St Pietro and I could feel the Real Power of the World Il VATICANO. Oh Carole! I could only say to myself … andare a Roma e dopo morire… going to Rome and then, you could die… It’s gorgeous. As you can imagine, people was everywhere but I could see circles on the floor. These circles go straight to the Central Pyramid and its inscriptions are the zodiacal symbols, e.g. Vergine/Ariete, Scorpion/Pisces with the dates of zodiacal calendar. This is paganism! I thought inside myself.
Debbie may be you know the meaning of it. And around the Pyramid more circles with the cardinal position and the name of the wind, e.g. north TRAMONTANA. I remember it because it has been blowing but today is OSTRO, the south. St Peter is free, so a long queue, so I walked to the opposite side and I was outside of Vatican Territory (the indicator says) and I found another Big Church. Its name is Santo Spirit di Sassia, there were hundred persons and they sang and I could feel an extraordinary emotion in my spirit. They were saying Thanks to Mother Elvira and they said in a loud voice two stories and then, they sang again. I prayed for all my dears…I remember each of you.
Suddenly I wanted to ask for talk to the Pope, it was like an obsession. For what… I want to tell him that it’s very important the freedom of choice. I was so imbibed in these feelings that I went out. It was not prudent to talk among these people in a loud voice. Wasn’t it!
On the door, I asked a nice girl and she explained me that everybody was devoted of Mother Elvira of the North of Italy. They were praying there while a group was talking with the secretary of Pope. They are asking her canonization. I only respect it but… you know, Church/Hierarchy is not for me.
I came back to The State of Vatican and I asked for an interview with the POPE… hahaha! This blonde, long with blue sea eyes of Swiss Guard, looked at me with surprise. He asked me some paper of the Bishop of my country and … it was a joke! I know the hierarchy and I dislike it!
Well done, it’s time to the Sistine Chapel, € 14 but I had to see the marvelous operas of Michelangelo… What a great disillusion! It ‘ s into the VATICAN MUSEUM, you walked and walked, to see and to see a lot of things of Old Roman, Popes, among millions of people and when you arrived to the Sistine Chapel you feel exhausted. It’s so gorgeous that you want to rest on the floor to admire the pictures in the sky, it’s so big, so … you feel that your heart beats strong but you need time to observe. And the security men hurried you, they repeat… don’t talk! Don’t Stop! Don’t take photos! It’s unbearable
All of this pushed me to think that this opera has kept important information about our past but it’s not my subject. May be, we can wait a new book or film like Angels and Demons. The City is full of places with a fountain and a Pyramid with Egyptian symbol. Mmm! Which is the relation of this?
However the best of Rome is his people. They help you all the time, they have problems as everybody but they laugh and they sing. They drive like pazzi (mad), they don’t stop you have to breathe and to cross then they break. Another day I stopped a woman in her motorino with my hand. But I live in Buenos Aires, a crazy crowed city so… I can manage it. And today, on Sunday I decided to walk through the story of Roman Empire.
The Via Apia Antica
And it was a flash; I haven’t got words to express my feelings. I could imagine Roman and non Roman people walking through these ways. Roma was and is, a place where you could find people from all over the World. I could listen all the language at the same time and I don’t know in what language I m thinking.
I stopped to eat and drink something in the unique nice bar of a village… a wonderful sandwich of pork and cheese and Sprite. Yes, it’s very important to eat well when you are outside your country… and here, Italian eats very well. Yesterday night, Spaghetti alla Vongolle. It was delicious! It was big! It was for three but I had not eaten anything during the day so it was a pleasure for my stomach and my taste.
Then with new forces I decided to visit a CATACUMBA. There are a lot but I was next to of San Calisto.
I walked, and walked through a beautiful valley and I found my ancestor… Yes, you know my surname is BOSCO… so Giuseppe Bosco was at the entrance of this beautiful park. And when I turned round I saw a new picture that it says<> Shit! they are the owner of everything. Anyway I walked again and finally, it was the CATACUMBA. OF COURSE you have to pay (€ 6). I felt disappointed to pay for the VATICAN. You know! I m Catholic! I believe in the Unique God, I believe in Jesus although I think that all of us were son of God, I love Maria because she represents the feminine spirit and I feel that her spirit could understand me but I hate this Commercial World. Why the world is so bad divided? Why these men have millions of treasures and there are a lot of people who are hungers?
Today I could see a demonstration of hundreds Nigerians in LA BOCA DE LA VERITA (center of Roma). They asked their rights, they work here; they don’t want to come back to their countries because they and their families need to live well.
THE MOUTH OF THE TRUE is a symbol…a face of a man with his mouth opened that in those times; people went to ask it the TRUE, THE VERITA. And to be sincere, I didn’t stop because these Nigerians demonstration give me paura.
At the door of the CATACUMBA I was thinking it but the man who take care the entrance talked to me. He explained me about the place; you could see tombs, antique tombs, with figures, with ancient draws. He was so kind and I asked him about his nationality. He was from Kochin, South India… I was surprised and I told him my doubts about the use of this money but he assures me that Church helps a lot in the South of India. So, I payed it and I was in the middle of tombs. It was my first and my last time of these experiences. Stairs down and down, and down and humidity odors, and small places, and tombs, and tombs.
In half an hour I was breathing fresh air and was coming back at home.
I stay in a Convent, Casa di accoglienza of Santa Teresa of Gesu. Another experience for my life, they received you but you don’t need to participate in their ceremonies, it’s cheap, safe and clean, really this place is wonderful. You could find peace ten minutes of the crazy Rome. Please, don’t worry… I don’t want to be a sister. It’s not for me; they live in a world very different, although I respect them. And each of us has a way in this life, I m sure of it. And it’s not mine. Moreover you could think that they have not deals to solve but they have a lot… only different deals. How do I know? Because I was talking a lot with a sister of Indonesia, she hates the hierarchy too, she works in a hospital as administration official and she has invited me to go there. I don’t know, earthquakes are very frequently but nobody knows only God knows our best way. Moreover, I am walking a long way to my life. May be! Another important part of my way. Thanks for sharing it and sorry for my English!
